Hey everyone,
Wow, I am beyond excited about this new adventure and am eager to share with you how great our God has been in all of this. A few short weeks ago I was approached by some wonderful people about the idea of partnering with SHARE Education Services to help provide therapy services to the youth and family that they serve during their education conferences. After talking with SHARE coordinators it became evident that there is an overwhelming need expressed by Missionaries and MKs alike for resources related to the stress of being a Missionary Kid.
During these conversations I was brought back to my own experiences living in Eastern Europe as a kid/youth. I remembered back to the emotional struggles that I faced and recounted the difficulties that I and other friends of mine had expressing the specific stresses that we had in a way that others would understand. I remembered back to high school when I sat in a chair and wrote down in a journal that one day I would return to work with Missionary Kids/Third Culture Kids as a counselor. I was brought to tears.
In prayer I asked God to reveal to me and to Macy if this is something that he would call us into, ministering to MKs/TCKs and their families. Through prayer and the affirmation of many Godly friends and family we began to understand that the need to help provide these services is much greater than we had ever imagined. We have felt God calling us as a family to look for ways to move towards full time ministry, beginning with this partnership with SHARE. We understand that this is a long-term process and plan to take it a step at a time.
In the weeks since I have been actively working on this website, researching other therapy resources available to MKs/TCKs, support raising for an initial trip to Halkidiki, Greece with SHARE and even begun counseling services with MKs via tele-health. This adventure has hit the ground running and I couldn't be more excited.
